Hi everyone,
We've had a lovely couple of days chilling out in the Gili islands, just off the coast of Lombok. After a rather bumpy 4 hours on the boat, we got here early evening on Sunday, just in time to see the sun setting off the boat, which was really cool.
After my last time here in peak Aussie-lash-holiday season I was a bit sceptical of finding a room but we had no trouble and managed to get one just off the beach…we're without a pool unfortunately but you can't have everything I suppose! There are loads of really nice restaurants lining the beach that sell fresh grilled seafood and kebabs so we spent our first evening in one and had a combination of grilled tuna, prawns and squid over a couple of beers - it's pretty pricey but well worth it and we all had a great night (even when Martin dragged us all down to a bar to watch the last day of the footy season!)
The last couple of days we have literally chilled out on the beach - there isn't a lot else to do here to be honest unless you fancy diving but seeing as we're going snorkelling for 5 days straight on our boat trip we took the opportunity to sit around and get a bit of tanning in instead. It's a beautiful beach and the island we're staying on (Gili Trawangan) is small enough that you can walk all around it in about an hour - naturally this was far too much effort but we did wander round to see the sunset over the other side of the island last night which was amazing.
More beach lazing is in order today, plus a bit more pigging out in the seafood restaurants later on.Can't complain!Off on our boat trip tomorrow, so we'll be internet-less for a week or so - hopefully have a few interesting stories when we get back (none that involve getting within 100m of a dragon though!!!)
Love Katie, Martin and Gemma

Mum S Eeek- 4hrs on a bumpy boat - but the sunset was worth it. Can't believe what fab weather you're having. You do realise you can't come home till that tan's faded! Hope you find the dragons at a safe distance - looking forward to the pics! Love Mxxx
Richard I'm pretty excitable that I'm seeing all of you in less than 7 days now :-) xxx
Desmond Hiya, Massive thunderstorms in Canada and weather well dodgy for weeks. Glad you did not pick May to come here!! Three times normal rainfall- usually we are in the pool already. Anyway sounds like you are continuing to have a jolly nice time. Bet Martin's gutted Man U got stuffed by Barca (not). They really played them off the park. It is possibly one of the most comprehensive and classy destructions of a world class team by another. Certainly one of the most complete displays of total football i have ever seen. Fergie your boys still have a bit to learn -it was well Messi! LOL
