Left Alabama early and headed west to New Orleans. Arrived in good time, dropped of car and headed for a snoop about the French Quarter. Found ourselves on the craziness that is Bourbon St. and grabbed a couple of beers while listening to an awesome soul band. Stopped for one in Lafitte's Blacksmiths (oldest house in Nawlins). Gets a mention as it took us so long to get there just to chalk up another state. It only looked like half a centimetre on the map! Nice town though.

Long day! Set off from Jackson about 10. Headed south through Hattiesburg and on to Mobile, Alabama. On hitting crazy holiday traffic decided to belt on to Pensacola, Florida just for the he'll of it. Took ages and had to rely on the kindness of strangers to direct us a couple of times. Pensacola v pretty and watched the spoils of a sea-fishing competition being landed. After a quick hotdog for the driver, set back on I10 to west side of Mobile to get digs...

Set off from Memphis in rental car at about 12. Headed south in highway 61 for the delta. Saw a sign for Helena Arkansas and trundled on over the bridge for a quick visit. Ended up having great cajun lunch there (blackened catfish and seafood gumbo) and visiting the blues museum. Back in Mississippi stopped by in Clarksdale to see the famous crossroads. Then headed for state capital Jackson. Arriving at about 7.30 headed for downtown - big mistake. No life...

Thought this town was worth a mention of it's own. Best blackened catfish in the Delta! (according to me)
