I finally went snorkelling today. Semir decided not to go, so I found myself on the boat with 6 Canadians and two fantastic tour guides. We went for a half-day trip and visited three different sites. There were lots of colourful fish, beautiful coral reef and other sea inhabitants such as lobsters, jellyfish etc. The guides pointed out each spieces, but I can't possibly identify any of them on the photos. The second site was a 'stingray village' where we swam with nurse sharks and stingrays; and finally, more corals. We were then treated to some coconut rum and freshly cut exotic fruit, very much needed after getting all wrinkled and cold in the water!
We ended the tour with a visit to the mangroves, however, we didn't see the crocodiles that sometimes come out on the edge.
They also showed us an entrance into an underwater cave that stills hasn't been completely explored and so far it is known that it runs under the island and all the way to the reef.
I asked about the famous blue hole and Carlos, our guide, explained that it is around 2 1/2 hour boat ride away and is a well known diving, rather than the snorkelling soot.
The tour ended with a sight of a stingray fliipping itself out of the water. What a nice day!
