A few friends and I took a girls' trip to the Netherlands this weekend. It was a fun and interesting experience, to say the least. The best part was where we stayed. A friend's parents graciously opened their doors and welcomed us for the night. We spent the evening drinking delicious wine and eating traditional Dutch food. They were wonderful hosts and made me miss my own parents more than I already do. In the morning, after breakfast where I became addicted to Dutch cheese, we headed out on what was supposed to be a short drive to the gardens. Little did we know we would be stuck in an hour long traffic jam. Apparently this is the busiest day of the year due to the parade that is scheduled for later that day. When we finally got into the gardens there were so many people you could hardly move, let alone get to a bathroom. This was not a good situation with one pregnant friend and one friend with the bladder the size of pea! We saw some beautiful flowers, took some pictures, of course we drank a little more wine, then headed home. But, before leaving the country we made sure to stop at a grocery store to pick up some souvenirs (more cheese!)
