The Journey Home
UNBELIEVABLE!
Just returned from an epic week of Sun, Drinking and Off Road Driving. All on the wonderfull Fraser Island (basically a sand dune the size of Wales)!
A group of 10 set off from Harvey Bay on Monday - scared and unsure of what lay ahead of them, they could look only to the confidence and authority of 3 Palace Hostel bus drivers - Myself, Ross and Nick (the Tall Dopey Canadian).
An epic journey followed, through the sandy off road tracks, beach camping, dingo fighting and freshwater swimming in 3 beautiful lakes.
The temperature and humidity were off the scale resulting in about 3 hours sleep in the 3 nights - unfortunately the tempting refreshing sea was 'off limits' due to the deadly jellyfish and abundant shark population - but this i knew would never stop my father and consequently at 5 30 in the morning it didn't stop me either. Am now one of the very few who have ever swum the sea off the west beach of Fraser Island! Hero
Other highlights included - undergoing stealth night operations to annoy other camping parties; spotting dingos; Ross getting chased by a big Goanna; and having every bit of blood sucked out of me by big insects that even i the budding entomologist couldnt even name!
Check out the great photos
