Globe trekker
Arrived in Mont Tremblant on 14th sept and have arranged to stay for just 2 nights. I didnt know what to expect from Mont Tremblant, I was advised that it is a must see as only a short distance from Montreal, and as I have to travel through Montreal from Quebece City I thought what the hell, lets give it a go. And god am I glad I did.
Mont Tremblant is about 3 hour drive north of Montreal (in Canadian terms that is a short distance) travelling deep into the mountainside. After seeing city after city, I was feeling sick of seeing concrete and felt the need to be in the countryside and Mont Tremblant is the perfect retreat to relax in.
High in the mountains, is Mont Temblant. I am staying in a lodge cabin that is surrounded by dense, rich forestry and overlook a beautiful, calm lake, which you can canoe, pedal boat and swim in free. It is so beautiful and peaceful, and I have been blessed with wonderful weather, not a cloud in the sun. It is the perfect place to relax and chill out.
I got talking to a group of people in the hostel and we arrange to hire bikes and go for a long ride to discover what Mont Tremblant has to offer. We cycled to the local ski resort, Saint Jovite, which is an amazing little ski village, which has recently been built and has an almost cartoon feel to like, with its colourful roofs and oddly shaped buildings, feels like something out of 'who framed roger rabbit', I almost feel that donald or daffy will come hurling down the street.
Being off season, there is no snow (which I didnt know until I got there, even though it was amazingly hot I still expected to see snow-god I can be so blonde). Its a very beautiful resort but you would definately need money to burn in a place like this.
We took the gondola to the summit, it cost us $20 (12 pound) and included food-bargain. It took 10 minutes to get to the top (thank god we didnt walk it was 850 metres high I believe), and the views were amazing. For as far as the eye could see, Canada beauty was beath taking with its vast lands covered by dense, rich forestry and beautiful lakes.
After taking in the beauty of Canada's vast land scape, we had food and relaxed on the summit with a beer (I derserved it as id cycled over 10 km to the resort and have over 10 km to cycle back, I hoping the beer will numb the pain). We then set off for our long journey back to the hostel, as the hostel was holding a bbq that night. So all in all a FAB day, one of the best yet. I just looking forward to stuffing myself with as much food and alcohol as possible, and relax on the decking area of the hostel overlooking the lake-pure heaven.
Tomorrow, its on to Ottawa, the capital city of Canada, watch out Ottawa as Im in the mood to PARTY!!!!
