Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday islands We arrived in the scorching heat to Airlie beach after a bit of a rough bus journey (again!) it was a non stop so no nice lunch break like we were becoming accustomed to or a leg stretch. The bus was relatively full but we thought we might be lucky and all get a pair of seats each but a girl wed met higher up the coast got on and neither of the other girls looked like they were moving their outstretched legs for toffee so ...

We had to get the minibus from Jackaroo to the Greyhound bus station an hour earlier than we needed to because there was an earlier arriving bus full of newbies for the hostel... We were up early and made packed lunches and put all of our leftover food and bits into the cold bag ready for the journey down to Townsville and beyond. We caught the greyhound from Cairns at one o clock, just. Wed been standing at the bus station for about twenty minutes, an obviously place for any bus to depart but suddenly realised we were in the wrong place and with only five minutes to go before departure (not Fiji time) we had to run across Cairns with our huge backpacks, fully clothes and in the heat to the right place! Australia We left fiji in the rain, which was sort of nice because it meant wed had the best of the weather over on all of the islands! The journey looming ahead of us however did not look fun...
