……And it’s done!
After a couple of months back in good old England I felt it was about time to conclude my little excursion with some reminiscing and acknowledgements (I will try not to ramble on, but if you have read any of my other blogs, you know I struggle with such things)
And so it’s over! After 290 days, 5 continents, 17 countries and over a hundred cities I made it back to beautiful Leeds with all my limbs, £16.27 to my name and a very very satisfied grin on my face. My travels saw me; climb mountains, swim with sharks, jump out of a plane, ride elephants, explore temples, ski down untouched slopes, amble through jungles and rainforests, quad-bike over sand dunes, swim in the Amazon and a thousand other things our incredible little planet has to offer.
I survived; a minor kidnapping, being detained by the border police, a broken bone, an attempted sexual assault from a prostitute, an actual violent assault from a ladyboy, flaming skipping ropes, gainful employment for a drug dealer, a ping pong show accident, a tarantula for a roommate, a bat wielding deaf midget, Vegas, a moped crash and I am sure countless other ridiculous scenarios that either can’t be remembered or shouldn’t be mentioned. I can honestly say I wouldn’t have changed anything on my trip, my one regret is that I didn’t sell my kidney or any other organs to continue my adventures (they were and remain my only worldly possessions worth money…..having said that some of my organs have probably seen better days and could well be rejected!)
Having said all of this and wittered on about all my exciting shenanigans, none of them would have been anywhere near as joyous if it wasn’t for the people I met on the way. I cannot begin to express how grateful I am to each and every one of you who made my trip what it was. Everyone who played a part in my travels however big or small, If you ever fancy a trip to the 69435th wonder of the world (Leeds) there will be a clean bed and a smile waiting to welcome you! I was considering naming names but the list would be too long, you all know who you are, how much you mean and I can’t say enough good things about you anyway.
So, as there is a danger of me getting emotional, I will sign off for the final time, apologise for my awful grammar again and wish everyone well.
Until the next time…………….

Grandfather A saga worth remembering & archiving Luke - assume you have this in hand before it disappears for ever. If anyone is dithering about taking off for the unknown your entrancing serialised blogs will either ignite the touch-paper of their 'adventure-rocket' or ensure they never venture on anything more hazardous than public transport! A super exercise in living the unknown & unexpected, taking things on the chin or other vulnerable/suitable points & to keep smiling (& learning) through the pain.
Uncle Mike A lovely final entry but as you will have learned from each event you have described so well, there is no such thing as an ending without a new beginning, Luke! Where next?
Pops An education that is for sure - delighted all the tests on your return proved negative!! You now have the travelling bug, which rest assured will not leave you - might not be for as long next time, but perhaps you will be able to afford tarantula free accommodation!
Ben i couldn't help but have the last word... Niiiiips
