We arrived on the bus and decided to take Jimmy's advice on where to stay (it helped that he'd given us discount!). At first we were a bit lost, but luckily the place wasn't far from the bus station and Jimmy had given us some good landmarks to look out for... that'll be Nando's chicken!!
I would have liked to visit some other places in Malaysia inbetween... but the main ones I fancied were the Perentian Islands and the Cameron Highlands... which weather-wise we really weren't in the season for as there have been loads of new severe weather warnings... so I guess one day I will have to make another trip!
KL was a massive improvement on Georgetown and we felt safe as houses wandering around here so spent a few nights. While we were here we saw the Petronas Towers... where we queued for the free tickets onto the skywalk (the bridge between the towers you can see on the picture). Tickets are available from 8:30 but run out quickly! we also went to Pasar Seni Market Square ad saw the Jalan Hang Kasturi shophouses (neo classical pre-war shophouses... just buildings to me!), Petaling street (chinatown), which is full of dodgy market stalls selling dvds and clothes etc and KLCC Park just behind the towers which has lakes and gardens and a very shallow pool for kids to play in along with some sculptures etc. we saw the KL Tower but only from a distance and if we had spent more time in the city I'm sure there's plently more we could have done.
One of our friend Raj's friends has a bar in the Petronas area so despite the ridiculous cost of alcohol (no really it's worse than London!) we decided to try and hunt it out o our last night. Unfortunately the directions we had didn't seem to lead us there and we'd forgotten to bring his number out with us... so instead we decided to go check out the Petronas Towers at night and eat ice-cream...
