5:45am we make our way to the bar area to meet our guide and hop aboard the once again relatively empty vehicle for the game drive. The Chobe National Park gates open at 6am and we are one of the first to enter. This park differs from the Kruger as all the roads are off road and it is not as commercialised but we will we see the animals? We do, but not as many...our driver gets out front and fortunately for us we are the first to happen upon the Lions whom after about 45 minutes drive are asleep in the road! #lucky We have the experience of watching 3 majestic lions lie and then wander off before the news is out and other vehicles arrive! Hold on a minute, hold the front page I forgot....before this we had already seen a honey badger with a kill, now we had seen a lion already and we also knew how lucky we were to spot a HB. 3 hours later and a few animals spotted ( we really were spoilt in the Kruger!) we head back to camp, bags are chucked into the van and onto out next adventure..... We arrive at camp and decamp into a typical mud hut with outside toilet and shower in Gweta, we grab a toastie ( it's all about the toastie here) and board the 4x4 heading toward the Makgadikgadi Pans to see the meerkats. 2 hours later having stopped at the famous Barbour (incorrect spelling but will edit later) trees (they are gigantic) we pick up Opic our guide who lives here
