Paradise!!
We started the day nice and early, by heading off towards lake Louise gondola. Once we were there we received a free buffet breakfast with our lift pass!! We both made the most of this offer!
After filling our bellies we waddled over to the gondola. As we climbed higher the views became more stunning. By the time we reached the view point we had amazing views of lake Louise and the surrounding mountains. It looked so inviting that we had to go and have a closer look.
On arrival at the lake Louise car park we found a chaotic scene as there were more cars than spaces. Having waited a while we saw our opportunity as a large trailer left. The space left was large enough for two campervans. As we manoeuvred into the space another campervan sneaked in and took up both spaces. Lorna outraged by what she just witnessed jumped out of the campervan and banged on the their window. She told them that there was enough room for two and they needed to move back a little. After a quick conversation they moved back (they were German- no more needs to be said).
We made our way down to the shores of lake Louise. It was worth the car park madness! In fact it is probably the most stunning sight of our trip so far. The lake is glacier fed which is how it gets it's unique colour. It is also surrounded by high mountain peaks. We decided to escape the tourist buses and head up into the mountains! This was some walk! We first strolled around the lake before taking a steep track up through the forest. As we climbed higher our breath become shorter but the staggering views kept us going! After a couple of hours we made it to a small tea house which is situated at 7000 feet above sea level! We both enjoyed a refreshing drink and a sit down! We decided to make our way up even higher to the look out point. The pictures say it All! On the way back down we visited two more picturesque lakes. We both really loved our day out at lake louise especially walking in the mountains around her!
On the way back to the campervan we stopped at her sister lake - moraine lake. This lake was also glacier fed and was a stunning azure blue. This was the perfect place to sit back and relax!
The sights we saw today were incredible! Words can not possibly do it justice neither can the pictures! It's simply the most beautiful scenes we have ever witnessed.
With love
