Day 63-64
On the 29th May we were up at 0600 to get our train to Townsville. We had to get a bus from the train station to the marina for a ferry. The bus journey was very interesting. Lorna was sat oppostire someone who had food and drink stains all down her top, and had filled her bra with tissue. When Al got on the bus with his bags; it was like a scene from Forrest Gump, all of the people shuffled over so we couldn't sit down. Except for one man who moved over for Al, Lorna sat on a seat on her own. The guy must've had a stroke and Al was struggling to understand his words. Although in one moment of clarity Al realised he was saying that he was on his way to court having pulled a gun on his wife as she ran off with his money. We didn't figure out whether or not he pulled the trigger but it was pretty weird anyway.
The ferry was only a short journey to Magnetic Island. Once checked into our hostel we took a walk down to Horseshoe Bay to see the sunset. We saw our first possum for the evening as we were eating our dinner.
On the 30th we decided to go for a walk. First we stopped at the lookout at Arthur Bay before heading down to Florence Bay to chill on the beach. Al went snorkelling and saw quite a few tropical fish.
We decided to walk the full circuit on the way back, thinking that it would be shorter. We did get to see Radical Bay but only briefly as we realised that the walk back was all up hill. In total we walked for about 3 hours with most of it up hill.
