Ok so before I begin I have to say that I have fallen in love with Buenos Aires - it is amazing! I loved Brazil but I have to say I think I am leaning towards this as being my favourite place!
We spent a few days doing the Iguaza Falls before coming here. One day we saw the Brazilian side which is stunning and you see alot a more overall view but personally I thought the Argentinian side was more breath taking because you get nearer to the actual falls. The Argentina park is alot bigger and we definately spent more tme exploring it. Unfortunately we missed a boat trip that drove in the base of the falls but that would be a reason to go back!! There is so much wildlife there we saw butterflies, racoons and crocodiles! Our Hostel in Iguaza was amzing, like a holiday resort = wicked pool! On the wedenesday night we had a BBQ there which had entertainment in the form of 2 half naked samba dancers. That night we had some drinks wih some people in our hostel, incuding the foulest tasting shot I have have had!! We had a laugh swimming in the pool until3am!
On the Thursday we took the 16hr trip to buenos Aires on one of the most comfortable buses I have ever been on. It was like 1st class air travel with films and food!
We got to BA on the friday and one of the first things we did was find the Kosher Macdonalds for Sian as she had gone 5 weeks with no meet. It turned out to be in a shopping centre so we did a cheeky bit of shopping. A good job too because my 2nd pair of flip flops broke so i spent a good couple of hours shuffling like an idiot before I found a pair.
On Saturday we went to a market in Recoleta, which we walked to for about an hour so got to see alot of BA. The market was massive and not at all logical - you could have easily got lost. There was lots of artists selling there stuff in the park which was lovely to see. We saw some funny street performing statues! Went into a gorgeous church which was decorated so elaborately. After mouching for a while we sat on a patch of grass to chill and listen to a violin quatet play the most beautiful of music, which I bought a CD of. On the way back to our hostel we were caught in the rain- it poured down and drenched us so naturally we sang any song relating to the weather whilst splashing in many puddles! Saturday night we took advantage of the happy hour, played pool then headed out to the nightclub Pacha. On our way back at 5am we stopped for food - as me and Sian got good old chips Kate was adventurous and wentfor something else on the menu - this turned out to be 2 crackers, a slice of cheese and ham. She was not amused - we however found it hilarious!
Today its sunday and after a failed attempt to get tickets to see a football game we changed our strategy and headed to San Telmo which is a gorgeous area of cobbled streets and antique stalls. In the steets there are dozens of performers, musicians, dancers, jugglers its kind of like Covent Garden. There was one amazing guy who painted the most fabulous of Art work to music and everyone watched as he did it - he was sooo talented. This whole place is fall of bohemian artists and it is really something to walk around and suddenly find yourself amoung 30 drummers and dancers. The architecture here is also stunning. We got a photo taking today dressed up as 1920's flapper girls - it is us after all!
It is safe to say i love Buenos Aires - there is so much I want to do and very little time so I had better go to plan the next few days. Checkout Photos on facebook xxxxx
