Hey D Hey Hey
Im sitting in Istanbul.. in an internet cafe.. 3 Lera for 1 hour.. bargain!! cheapest weve found in a while.. can upload photos.. but not sure if i have enough time.. so will try but cant guarantee its gonna be done.
so were on day whatever of our tour.. i think ive weve been on 3 weeks or something.. its getting okay everyones getting to know eachother and have fun.. although people are constantly leaving and new ppl starting.. we have 15 ppl starting today.. and 5 ppl leaving.. full bus from here to london.
so yeah since i last wrote.. ive been to.. i think i last wrote in italy.. so there was the colesseum which is amazing.. (ps im so getting dumbver on this trip due to lack of sleep so i apologise right now for the spelling) anyways the collessum is awesome.. esp for its age.. the floor in the main arena has deteriorated and is no longer there so you can see the tunnels which were once under the ground.. the seating is barely there but you can imagine how it is and its still sweet as.. we also went to the rome forum is huge and wow.. compared to the ruins in greece italy is where its at.. i was a bit dissappointed with the ruins in greece because there in the process of restoring the acropolis, with original parts.. (its been going on since 92 apparently) so there was scaffolding everywhere.. dodge.. but i guess if you looked through the scaffolding you could see what it was like.. anyways rome forum, trevi fountain..
we went to vatican city.. accidently went on a sunday so the sistine chapel was closed :( so well have to go back.. but oh my god.. st peters basillica.. every inch of the place is covered in marble carvings and tiled mosaics.. we were all in aww.. you could spend forever there and still wouldnt see everything.. it was amazing.. we also heard the pope being televised.. hella
after that we joined the tour as i said everyone is so nice and we get good good good good food.. so tasty and we dont have to buy it or cook it .. from rome we went to sorrento which is beautiful so picturesque.. one of the nicest places weve seen.. the views are awesome.. we went to the island of capri.. which i hate.. but thats only cause we went on a day with terrible weather.. as in it was hailing as we were running to catch the ferry .. hilarious.. but everything to do on the island of capri depends on good weather.. so everyone was there for 5 hours or so just walking around freezing there asses off waiting to go home.. and we paid 6 euro 80 for a hot chocolate!! note to self.. ask prices before ordering if there not on the menu.. cause that works out to around $12 australian..holy!! umm from there .. ooh we went to pompeii before sorrento.. that was pretty sweet.. the town was so developed and so with it in terms of how they ran it and set everything up .. the roads, the drainage, speed bumps, houses (except the kitchen and toilet which were in the same room a meter or so apart) the solid rock beds looked super comfy aswell.. umm yeah .. we found a brothel which had "sexy time" pictures on the walls.. hehe and we saw moulding of bodies that had been covered in the ash.. they were a bit creepy.. but awesome at the same time..
umm from sorrento we went to .. hmm athens i think, which i told you about.. it was so hot there.. and athens to meteora where we saw the monastries on the cliff tops.. the views are amazing.. and its sounds so stupid but ive seen so many amazing things i dont think i appreciated them as much as i wouldve on the first day.. but its crazy to think how they built them way back when using ropes to pull the materials up to the top of the cliffs.. it was awesome .. theres only 2 monastries the public can see at the moment.. and the bigger one was closed.. but the one we saw was okay.. as i said amazing views..
from there we went to gallipoli for anzac day.. it was freezing but not as cold as i thought.. i think there were like 8000 ppl and only sleeping room for not even half of that.. it was really badly run.. they really needed an area co-ordinator!! heheh where were you alan!! :) and yeah everyone was struggling to stay awake in the dawn service.. and steph.. my new friend on the tour.. and i.. kinda.. umm fell asleep for a 25 minute block of the 45 minute australian memorial.. hehe i woke up and everyone around me is standing up for a prayer.. heheh was so funny.. whoops.. but gallipolli is such a beautiful place.. im not sure id ever go back to a dawn service cause it was organised to badly.. but im definately glad ive been to one.. ooh and we saw the grave or the headstone of simpson.. from simpson and his donkey..
and then from gallipoli to istanbul where i am now writing to you lovely ppl.. we went to the bazaar markets yest and had a bit of a tour of the town.. i hate haggling!! you even have to haggle at the bar to buy drinks!! whats that about!! weve been having fun though and some of the guys have bought a bb gun which they like to bring out on cold nights camping.. its so much fun.. but hurts like a mother!! esp when its cold and they hit the knuckles.. youch!! they have good aim!! umm ooh i forgot one of the most memorable parts of the trip.. 3 days sailing in greece.. it was so much fun!! and i can now say ive swam in the adriatic sea.. twice.. it was sooo .. lets say refreshing.. rarther then freezing.. but yeah we had an awesome time 5 sail boats between all of us and we all had to help put up the sails take down the sails drive.. everything.. it was sweet as.
so far i think rome was my fave.. best views was either sorrento or meteora, best food greece, by far!! cheapest internet istambul.
gotta go miss you all so much and will try for more photos asap!
