Originally erected in the 16thC by the Pharaoh Thutmosis III in honor of the God of Sun Amon Ra. It was brought to Istanbul by emporer Theodosius in 390AD for decoration of the ancient Hippodrome. It is 19m high (5-6m believed to be broken off in transport & is missing) and all 4 sides are covered in hieroglyphic pictograms
