A beautiful beautiful day here,I'm currently staying in a little town called Goreme which we arrived at last night.Tents went up and the cook team got on with getting dinner on the go.My buddies were on cook duty so with the help of Will we made a good effort at putting half a dozen tents up. Before we arrived here we left our bush camp from the previous night and travelled to a little town called Selime where our morning started at 8 at exploring the fairy chimneys and caves that had been carved out of the volcanic rock.Truely amazing to see and just unbelievable to think people inhabited these dwellings.
We then strolled down the road and set about walking through the Ihlara valley which was dotted with more caves up in the rocks that over hung our path.Which we did have to explore, thankfully i was with fellow companions that felt as excited about exploring these cave dwellings as i was.The only thing that would have made it better would have been my head torch which i had left back on the truck. It was about a two and half hour trek and as we passed by little fields we saw woman covered from head to toe in their local dress,i really do not know how they stuck the layers.
Then we headed to a place called Derinkuye where we visited an underground city which was a labyrinth of caves that had been home to thousands of people at some point. They're reason for living underground was to give them sanctuary from persecution. It was freezing down there this time i did remember my head torch and it just added to the thrill of being in the dark in what was once someone's home.
We left Oludeniz Monday morning,i did have to run around the blue lagoon i don't think anything could have stopped me,some went for a swim and some just took it easy,we are of course on holiday!! only for another six months now. After Oludeniz we headed fo Kas,a great place and wicked campsite simply called Kas campsite, our hosts went out of their way to make us feel at home.Swam in the sea after finding some courage and a little assistance from the others well worth the effort even if it was a little chilly. After dinner wandered down to the harbour bumped into some sailors from Northern Ireland who were sailing in the local area and were interested to hear our story.Left Kas Tuesday 01st May and trucked onto Olympos arriving in the evening. The highlight on Wednesday?was seeing the Chimeras which are natural flames coming out of the ground we did that at dusk for that added effect.Olympos doesn,t have a wonderful beach but we did enjoy its laid back feel to life and we even did a yoga class at 8 Wednesday morning which set us up for the day.
Got tonight here in Goreme we are having our Turkish night out where we can eat as much as we want(which i'm looking forward to) and drink as much as we want too,all for 30YTL not bad.Next time guys,so much to do only starting to live the life.Lots of love Ave x x x x x x x x
