Dear fans,
WE HAVE MADE IT!
This morning to announce our arrival in true adventurer style we climbed Table Mountain in time for sunrise and made a visit into central Cape Town.
It has been an incredible 4 months, we have seen and done some trully amazing things and have had our fair share of challenges to overcome. Thank you for keeping up with our progress and more importantly thank you to all those that have so generously donated to Tusk. Having seen some of the projects first hand we now know for certain that your donations will really make a difference to the conservation of Africa.
For now the plan is to enjoy Cape Town meeting up with some friends we have made along the way who will be here shortly. After a week we will head up the garden route towards Johanesburg in order to catch a plane home. It will be very strange to take 10 hours to rewind what has taken us nearly 4 months to do in a car.
The total distance on the clock is 24,790km from London to Cape Town in case you are planning on a similar expedition.
Since Henry's last postcard we went to see the otherworldly red sand dunes in Sossusvlei as well as paying an en route visit to Fish River Canyon, the worlds second largest canyon after the Grand one. We crossed the border on Sunday into South Africa, camping in the hicksville town of Springbock before arriving in Constantia on Monday evening.
We promise to put photos etc up tomorrow now we have found a suitably fast internet cafe. The last batch are well worth a look as Namibia was one of the most beautiful countries we have visited.
Thanks again for sticking with us, and here's to our safe return to the UK with loads of boring dinner party chat!
All the best,
Alastair and Henry
