Well chaps and chappesses,
I apologise for not updating this more, but we have actually beeen quite busy. We have been at the Africat Foundation and on arrival immediately had to go and help dart a leopard that had escaped, which was one of the highlights of the trip. After that nothing we did at Africat was going to be exciting and Dave made sure of that. I think he found it amusing seeing how tedious the jobs he gave us could be, we started off repairing punctures, something we have no experience of such are the brilliance of the BF Goodridge Mud Terrains we've been using. After that he had us cutting metal to make a crush cage or squash trap as Henry calls it (a cage that the side can be pulled in on to hold a cheetah during examination). After that we were made to cut out A4 size cardboard to keep photos in good condition when they are sent to sponsors. Whilst not the most enthralling work in the world, we rose to the challenge and found it quite refreshing and nice to feel useful.
I hope Dave and Carla liked us, by Dave's message he seems to enjoy our sense of humour. You may have seen them on TV in the Longleet goes wild series when they were filmed hand rearing an orphaned pack of wild dogs, which was the first time anyone had achieved it in Namibia. However, the main thing is cheetahs for them, they have 81 that are either too injured, orphaned too young or ex-pets that cannot be reintroduced to the wild. Having said that they have successfully trained some to hunt for themsleves and if Tusk pays for the planeed 55,000 acre reserve extension they will have a real chance of introducing orphaned cheetah back into the wild. So your money does go somewhere useful!!
Right better go as we are on our way to the wilderness of Kaokoland in North Namibia now, so keep checking our progress and we will try to put some photos on,
All the best Ali and Henry
