Hey everyone! well we are now in cairns after flying from Alice springs. We were in the outback for 4 days on a Rock and Canyon tirp-it was amazing! we were on a bus of 36 people-some nice-some annoying-some weird so an amusing few days!!! the first day we drove to Ayres Rock resort and stopped off at these rocks called the ulger rocks and did an hour walk on the 40 degree heat-bloody hot!!! then we headed off to Ayres rock for the sunset and wine and nibbles-it was good although the picture above is better than we saw!
day 2 we saw sunrise at the rock so were up at 4.00am! then did the 10k walk around it as the aboriginals dont like you to climb it. it is massive and has lots of interesting formations on the sides. That afternoon we drove to kings canyon resort and set up our swag bags to sleep in under the stars-it was great fun!
Day 3 we did a walk around the canyon which was so beautiful and more impressive that the rock! the views were spectacular! we had a free afternoon so went quad biking for 1 hour-it was amazing! the tracks were pretty hard and windy over ricks and sand! Rich of course was at the front firing around like a mad man! i was nearer the back making sure i didnt wipe out a tree! we had a camp fire and meal which was great.
Day 4 headed back towards alice springs, stopping at a bar with a singing dingo! he plays the piano and howls along-reminded me of Echo! Also the flying doctors surgery but by this point we were so tired we just wanted to get back and sleep! that night we met the tour group for dinner drinks and clubbing in this random place which was like a garage! a fun night and no hangover so a bonus! we really enjoyed the trip it was fun, informative and we got to chat to others but are pleased to bo on our own again!!!
