Amongst our busy work schedules we have managed to squeeze in a fantastic three days in Melbourne. After negotiating the huge long roads with 2 sets of street numbers, and a tram system alien to us, we finally got to our hostel in St Kilda. We took some time to explore the seaside with a stroll along the pier followed by a swift run along the highstreet to get out of the rain! Afer our exertions we had to relax in order to re-energise for the awesome 'Neighbours' party at the Elephant and Wheelbarrow English pub. After being kept waiting for ages the stars of the night came out....Connor, Ned and none other than the legend himself...Harold! We got to have a brief chat and photo with all of them, which was promptly followed by a night of trivia...our team 'get ya shirt off Ned' was so good that we didn't even get a mention in the top 10. Well done us! The highlight of the night was Karl Kennedy and his band 'Waiting Room'. They played covers of all sorts of music, which surprisingly was brilliant. So much so that I had to buy a signed CD! The bonus of this was that we got to meet them backstage. They were all very down to earth and chatty. They are touring the UK so no excuses for you guys not to see them. We just warn you the CD leaves a lot to be desired so don't bother with that one...the live gig is 100% better! The second day we spent doing a full day of tourist sight seeing from markets to art exhibitions and museums, churches and historical buildings. Our evening was nicely topped off with a trip to see 'Hip Hop for Dummies' as part of the Melbourne Comedy Festival. It was hilarious and we can now both say that we are fluent in da hip-hop lingo..Bo! Of course being the home of Neighbours it would have been rude to pass up on the Neighbours official tour so yes...we got up early and boarded the Neightbour minibus. After Cheryl answering all the Neighbours pop trivia questions right.... where the information of the likes of Stefan Dennis, Craig McLaughlan and the Ellessi twins came from I will never know!.....we arrived at Ramsay St. The proof is in the pics. Then it was on to the studios where we all sat outside in the bus like stalkers wondering whether we were actually going to get to see anyone, when only Max Hoyland pulls over to chat to us and get down on his hands and knees to sign Liz's stubby holder...Apparently only 30% of the time the cast stop to chat and take photos so we now we think he is a very nice man in deed! The journey back was made very entertaining by episodes of past deaths and marriages. So arriving at the smallest airport ever, Avalon....literally a hanger style building in the middle of a field with only one bus to reach it...we set off back to Sydney with the tune of Scott and Charlene's wedding in our heads...ah! THE END! Lots of Love xxx
