Lisa and Simon`s Around the World Tour
We left the 40 degree heat of the coastal lowlands and moved South East to the town of Dalat at the heart of the central highlands region of Vietnam.
This was a welcome relief from the hot humid conditions of the coastal lowlands, where midday temperatures were reaching 40 degrees. Dalat is in a region where temperatures were 20 - 25 degrees in the day and down to 15 - 18 degrees at night. It was bliss! I even had to put on my fleece for the first time in a long while.
The town of Dalat, is centred around a large lake with pine forests, jungle and farmland. Apart from enjoying the cooler climate, we did some walking and exploring the area. We didn't see any Asian tigers but we did come across some elephants and plenty of leeches after it chucked it down with rain. I was frantically trying to knock them off my shoes before they got anywhere near my legs. Then I had to keep stopping every few minutes to check that no more had found their way onto me.
Dalat was a really nice place and I could have stayed there much longer. Unfortunately, we still have much to see and do so we had to move on.
