Well here I am.. in a nationalpark that supposely holds Mount Ngauruhoe and Mount Ruapehu, the two mountains used as Mount Doom in the Lord of the Rings.. I am still amazed by all I see thrue the window everyday. New Zealand has the most spactacular nature ever! it is just beautiful!
Since the last time I wrote something we've spent a couple of days in Rotorua. a really smelly town in the middle of the north island. the smell comes from the volcanic acticity underneath the city.. all the gasses makes it smell like rotten eggs..REALLY rotten eggs.. we spent two days here, the first just sightseeing and relaxing, the second we went to a spa and bathed in some of all these minerals and whatever these hot pools provides us with. it was a really good day with hardly any clouds on the sky. the next morning we were supposed to go skydiving (again for me).. but the weather was not on our side and the thing got cancelled. both on thursday and friday.. so no skydiving....=(
We spent one night in Taupo in a 16 people dorm. And the irish staying in our room was very noisy!! so that night i really didn't get much sleep. After Taupo we went to a nationalpark underneath Lake Taupo. It was a beautiful place, but there where fog and clouds so we could not see much.. this is were a lot of the scenes in the three lord of the rings movies were filmed. I can see that the landscape looks familiar, but it is difficult to see exactly the same places as I've seen in the movie. but it is a very pretty country to drive through.
I am now in Wellington the capital in NZ. it is a small city compared to some of the other places we've seen the last couple of months, but it is a quiet and nice city. eventhough it is the capital there is only 300 000 people living in the city. if you compare it to the biggest city in NZ, Auckland with its 1,3 million people it is not very big at all. Wellington is a windy place, the winds from the ocean comes into the harbourpassage which works like a tube and only makes the winds stronger. then it hits the city, and all the tall buildings adds even more strengh to the wind. so everyday here is a bad hair day=) hehe..
today i went walking around the city just to experience some of it. the harbour area was really nice and I ate lunch in a small park nearby. I've decided to go to the movies tonight. He's just not that into you is the movie I picked. I've read the book and I loved it! our hostel here is OK, but not the best. everytime you want to make food in the kitchen we have to borrow pots and pans and everything you need form the reception. and they have fines for everything form locking yourself outside of your room, to having a frined over to watch tv after 10.30pm. but it was the cheapest in the city and the location is great. close to everything we need.
tomorrow we have to get up really early to take the bus up to Taupo. then we stay there one night before taking another bus back to Auckland. On wednesday we have a flight to Fiji.
aaaww..Fiji..our vacation from our vacation..the only problem seems to bad THAT IT IS RAINING IN FIJI!!! and it has been for the past couple of weeks!! that is not a good thing!! Fiji was the one week we were supposed to lay on the beach and just relax, not do big sightseeing stuff or have to travel around to do this and that..but well..lets hope it only rains an hour a day..
well I've gotta go now..need to make some dinner before I go to the movies and I might need a little nap to. went out last night in wellington so didn't go to bed until 3am. but it was a fun night and we had fun with the people whom we have shared a bus with the past week. hope everybody is doing good back home and all over the world!!
