Ok so I've been in Montreal for 3 days and am going to Ottawa today, it has been nice here if not a bit confusing with all the signs in French making it hard to try and find locations. But the people here are friendly and happy to give directions which is good.
I went around the old town and visited the science museum there which I have to say was a waste of money really, they didn't say before I bought the ticket that 90% of the exhibits were for children so there wasn't really much I could do in there, but it got me out of the heat for a while, since it was very hot. They had bikes you could rent out for short periods of time and i was tempted to ride to the small island park untill i got told it would take 40 minutres to ride there, so i didnt really have the time to do it, but it is a good scheme set up.
I also went on one of our hostels tours to climb Mount Royal which was pretty good, I ended up being the only person who applied as well so it was a one to one tour which worked well for me as I got to see a lot more of the city after the hike up to the top. It wasn't that tall at only 233m so it only took around 15 or so minutes to climb up, but there was a good view of Montreal at the top. After that I was shown around some other parts in Montreal in the art/music area which was good. That evening I tried to see a comedy show but unfortunately because of the Ice Hockey it was cancelled as Canadians prefer to go to Hockey then to comedy, but ah well.
It was a nice place but I'll be glad to get out of a French orientated location to an English one, it should be less confusing. Short entry and now i am off to Ottawa :)
