Mr blue sky please tell us why you had to hide away for sooo long... That's right the sky was blue, not a cloud in sight. It was a great day to make our way to Coral Bay! No more grey skies of Sydney! Just hot sunshine!!
Coral bay wasn't far away so we set off early so we'd get the whole day on the beach! We went to book onto our campsite...Joe went in and told them there were four of us...instead of six. They charged per person instead of per camper, which is silly (well thats what we though) so we lied and got a cheaper deal! We're rebels, I know! Haha but we are trying to save the pennies. Once we were all parked up and plugged in we hit the beach to catch some rays! And that's where we spent our day pretty much.
Later that evening we had a lovely meal and had a few drinks. We felt another goonathon coming on. In the distance heard karaoke...bad karaoke at that but it seemed pretty booming there so we went to check it out. We followed the sound and turned up to a small gathering of people...mainly old...they are the only people we have come across on this trip. Haha. We continued walking passed instead of joining, they were just finishing up and one of the women was just finishing her song on stage before shouting on the mic: 'thanks for coming everyone. Its been awesome!' all she needed to finish with was 'yeah! Coral Bay Rocks!!' she was saying it to the all of 20 people that were watching. It was so funny.
We continued walking and checked out the local bar. As we walked in we were just stared at all the way to the bar. Its like everyone was a local there and we were intruders that were NOT welcome! It was awkward. I don't think they are used to newbies. We stayed none the less! For one drink though before heading back to the camper.
Curly had a dive in the morning so she was in ned early...joe and janis joined her for an early night. Can't say the same for me, justine and liam though. We thought we'd play a few drinking games with some goon...well drinking games weren't allowed on site so it wad us playing card games which involved us having to take a sip of goon occasionally! Another rule of the site is no drinking tents...not sure what they are to be honest but we were drinking under an awning not in a tent so technically we weren't breaking any rules!! Agreed?
A few goons later two random guys, who called themselves Peter and Phil, passed. We later found out that they their real names were...Clint and Daniel but by this point we were in the habit of calling them Pete and Phil so it stuck! They got chatting and invited us to a party on the beach! The 3 of us were up for a party so of course we said yes! As soon as we got in the car though we though maybe this is a mistake as we saw a headless naked barbie tied to the front of the car...and as we pulled up to the beach there was a huge fire and two guys cutting wood with and axe...me and Justine just thought 'oh crap, we are goners!' haha. It would have been very easy for them to shop us up and throw us on the fire, there'd be no trace haha. There was a big crowd of people on the beach and the fire was going strong. Everyone was really friendly and chatty. Time flew by and before me knew it it was 4am. Sound more like me Liz? A random adventure which lasted until the early hours of the morning? haha.
When we eventually got back, (the car got stuck in the sand for a while). The 3 of us sat back outside under our awning in the seats we were in before we left, playing the same card game with some goon. It was as if the night never happened. It was weird! Haha.
A few games later we decided to call it a night and went to bed. We tried so hard to be quiet but as we got in Joe sat up. We sort of froze but he'd noticed...oops haha. We then realised we had to make our bed and there was so much s*** on it... There was no way we could do it quietly. Justine started throwing the stuff and piling it on Liam. There was so much stuff it was going over his head but he just stood there wobbling. It couldn't be contained any longer...we just burst into hysterics! Everyone woke up...trying to be quiet did not work! While everyone was sort of awake I though I might as well make myself a sandwich...I was starving.
A lovely hangover breakfast was needed the next day...along with some paracetamol. The goon hangover is never good! Once we finally rose we made our way to the beach for yet another relaxing day in the sunshine. Again that's all we did all day long.
After another lovely meal in the evening Clint and Daniel, I mean Phil and Pete joined us for a bit of social drinking involving cards. We taught them how to play frenemies. All of us were still pretty much bitter against Joe from the last few games played with him...he made everyone an enemy and his hasn't done him well as everyone just turns against him in the game. We even got Phil to join in. Pete just kept picking on Liam who they both randomly call James! Not sure where that came from. Haha. He just goes with it though.
After a few games Phil starts chatting about something but then randomly turn to Joe and says 'you look like my dead grandad!' it was hilarious! Where did that come from? Haha. Joe asked him that and he replied with 'I think it's just your bushy eyebrows!' Haha. What a legend! That was pretty much the subject for the rest of the night! Brilliant! If you know Joe...you'd know it's one of the funniest things that could ever be said to him...he's very into his looks haha! Not sure he is anymore. I don't think it's possible to turn 'looking like a dead grampa' into a good thing. Do you?
A game of ring of fire happened a bit further into the night...Pete got box head for most of the game! He didn't know what had hit him... drinking when everyone has to drink...it's a lethal rule! Plus you look like an idiot with a goon box on your head! The game went on for a little while and then we made our way to bed! We thought it was quite late but it was only 11pm. What's gotten into us? We've been hanging out with oldies for too long now. They're dragging us down haha.
Morning came and Liam decided to join Phil and Pete on a fishing trip. So me and curly went to check us in for another night on the park. The woman at the desk tried catching us out. The thing is we'd gotten away with staying on the site as a four for the passed two nights but what we didnt know was that there had been people watching us and reception ha been informed that there were six of us. So she questioned me at the desk asking over and over again if there were definately four of us. I kept replying with the same answer 'yes, yes and yes!' I couldn't exactly say that we'd just found two random people and that now we are a six. Could I? When she said people had reported six people I just said that a few from the caravan over had join us for a couple of drinks. She believed us well we think and let us stay another night but she made it difficult for us. She said someone had booked the site we were staying on...that specific site...absolute bulls*** that! But we said no problem so we had to check out at 10am, park in visitors parking and then check back in at 11am. I think maybe they wanted to keep an eye on us. We had to be sly about things. So Justine and Janis went early to the beach so they would only see 3 of us in the van as Liam had gone fishing! We were one step ahead of them haha!
When we went to check back in she handed me a sheet with the number site we were booked onto. It was only the site right next to the one we were previously on. It was so pointless and just a pain in the bum but we parked up and went to the beach!
Today I planned not to just sit on the beach all day so Justine, Joe and me went snorkelling in part of Ningalloo reef. We saw a few fish here and there, a huge stingray was laying at the bottom hidden in the sand! That scared me I won't lie...I didn't want it to start swimming so I slowly swam around it. There wasn't much more to see where we were so I made my way back to shore to soak up the sun.
It wasn't long after that Liam had returned from his little fishing trip with the boys. They'd caught a lot of fish one being a huge tuna. He showed us what was left of the body...it was massive! It was going to be an awesome dinner! Fresh tuna...yum!
Before dinner Clint Aka Phil kindly took us girls out on the boat, further out into the reef for some more snorkelling. It took me a good 10 minutes to pluck up the courage to get in but I did and it was really cool. The water was quite warm so we just swam around for a bit admiring the reef. We got to see some turtles, they were just chilling out, casually swimming around...apart from fish though we didn't get to see much else. The sun was setting and it was getting dark in the water so we hopped back on the boat to make our way back to shore. I got back on the boat first, managed getting on it easily enough. The problem was I had Finns on and couldn't for the life of me lift my legs up over the side. I pretty much just had to fall forward...very embarrassing! Curly got on no problem...but then came Justine's go. This was not as easy...she could not get up on that boat! It is pretty difficult with no ladder and with the boat rocking but we managed to do it. She just kept falling back in and cutting herself... She needed to be careful it was feeding time for the sharks soon and she kept cutting her fingers. She would have been a goner if she didn't eventually manage to get on the boat. And that only happened because she decided to stand and then straddle the motor...if that came off we would have all been screwed. It probably would have been easier to try and help her but it was too funny plus I was filming the whole thing. Haha.
We drove back to shore as the sun was setting then made our way back to the campsite. It was a beautiful evening for a BBQ! We got our food ready and wandered down to the BBQ area by the beach. It was was a feast fit for a king! We cooked (well when I say we I mean the boys) the fish that Liam caught earlier that day and served it with some cous cous. I tried my first bit of raw tuna steak, it was surprisingly good I won't lie!
After a good ol' meal and a a few beverages we strolled back to the campsite to Phil and Pete's lair. We were still in hiding we had a feeling we were being watched so we chose not to go back to ours for a little while. After a few card games I got pretty sleepy so went to bed. There were two new tent sort of things outside our van...they looked more like seperate coffins...it was weird. It felt like we were under serveilance...so we quickly went inside and went to bed. They couldn't really throw us off the site at that time of night so we pretty much got away with it. Woooo!
Morning's here and it's time to move on to our next destination... Exmouth!! Only a couple of hours north so not much travelling. It's going to be good, whaleshark diving will be happening, let's hope I don't get eaten! Eek!
I'll be in touch...I hope! Fingers crossed.
To be continued...
Love
