Finally it's here, today we are going on holiday!!
The kids are packed off to nursery. One dressed as superman, shouting 'I can fly'; the other dressed in football gear with tears streaming down her face because she thought Sports Relief Day meant it was Sports Day ... and she didn't want to lose.
Me and Steve start the day the way any stressed out people with a tonne of work and a tight schedule should...with a pub fry-up, then it's off to get the Motorhome.
We hired it from a place just passed the Welsh border in an Aviation Park where we find it all set up for us parked next to two graffitied Russian Migs. Off course the downside of this location is that our first border crossing on our multi-nation holiday is...England!!
The motorhome is huge, which is just as well since we have practically emptied our house into it. Steve seems to settle into driving it and at 5pm we pick 2 hyper kids up and we're off.
The 1st leg is from Eccles to Whitstable covering 269 miles. It's a typical UK motorway journey, we passed a boat (a massive) one on the back of a lorry and a helicopter, also on the back of a lorry, sitting under the worlds biggest blanket to keep it warm.
There's loads of roadworks with average speed cameras which slow us down but at least the further South we go the more it seems like roadworks are for a purpose other than storing unwanted traffic cones. Unfortunately this is the only thing that gets better since services seem to be dreadful north or south and in the south it has crazy, appear out of no where, fog patches.
It's really late when we arrive at camp and we're welcomed by a security guard who looks like he could be Phil Mitchell's dad but is ultra nice and friendly.
Which brings me to now, everything is in night mode, the kids are asleep in their lofty cabin bed and all I have left to do is hit save then go to sleep to recharge for day two.
