Well it's been a while coming but i have finally got my arse into gear and got on the computer. Well where did we last get too? Oh yeah the Flugtag!! That was a right laugh, people jumping into the water at 6 metres (twice the height of wyndley diving board, me thinks) in stupid costumes face first, hehe. yeah so we had a break from job hunting for a day and it was good stuff. Monday morning though the reality came back to hit us, we were spending $200 each easy and not doing much but signing onto agency's, websites, and all that s***e! we spent two weeks doing this, and were quickly coming to the end of our tether. we had seen a advert for a semi permanent self contained room, about 5 mins from the centre of Sydney, so Jade rang them up and we headed out to view it. We get off the train and wonder aimlessly for about 30 mins, in the heat and were really contemplating the reality of the situation, we had had no luyck in two weeks of searching and it was killing our finances, so we set a deadline 2 weeks more and if noithing had come up, we were going to cut our losses, leave and head to China. We finally got to the place (called English lodge) the girl who was showing us around started askining us the usual, what you doing here, where next, are you working? to the last one we relayed our dilemma. And my god she was our savior, she in the space of ten minutes had given us details of 4-5 different jobs and that they were available. not once trying to sell us the room, she were great. She offered to give us a lift to the office where they had contact numbers so we got up there, took down the numbers, and went away to have a chat between ourselves. We told her that we would take the room. It wasn't available until the next Friday so we said our goodbyes and left. On the way home i rang the number for a warehouse job and got a answerphone so i left a message. Jade rang her contact an Irish girl called Donna, and was told without an interview, she could start on Monday. We couldn't catch our breath, one minute we are considering leaving and within an hour, Jade has job and i have a very good chance of getting one. So on the Monday Jade went to work and i went to the bank to open an account. Jade's job entails ringing company's who are going to an exhibition (Like the NEC) to show off there company or product, and her company deals with hiring out the stages, furniture, and electrical equipment to the partticipating companies. She gets paid $18 an hour so thats about 8 quid, so not too shabby. On Tuesday my guy from the place i called me and asked me to go for an interview for the next day, at 8 o'clock in the morning!! Who the fook has an interview at 8 in the morning?!! any hu, I went to that and he literally said, get some steel toe cap boots and come in tommorrow. So 8 o'clock the next morning there i was in me boots, not quite ready but, willing for work. All i do is basically lift boxes of nuts and bolts out of a tote bin and into a box to be sent to the customers, its not hard but its heavy work. The boxes weigh about 15 -20 kilo's and i do that for 8 hours, so i will be built like a brick $hit house by the time i leave here! and the best bit its $20.53 an hour, thats over ten quid an hour for labour work. i pick up about 300 quid a week after tax, so it's real good for the saving, plus we get most if not all of the tax back when we leave so thats even more. We were planning to work for 8 weeks but i owe Jade some money from when we wasn't working and i also got a phone call from me mom a couple of weeks ago telling me i have gone over my agreed overdraft!! woops! so it looks like ten weeks now. still not too bad. Jack asked if our accents have started changing, the answer is no suprisingly, lol. I have start saying sruff like the ozzies do, but only at work, they say aye, all the while when there asking a question. Like, so your from England then aye? And since we have been working, it has absoloulty pissed it down for, wait for it, a record fifteen days straight, that and its been the coldest april since 1954 or something like that. At last though it's changed and its gorgoues outside again, 21 degrees today perfect. We can alos see the city centre from our window which is cool, especially at night, ill try an get a photo. We went to a house warming party the other week for one of Jades colleges at work she had been there a day when she got the invite lol. So that was our first outiong with the natives which was very funny, but down to Jade's workmate Katie more than the locals, she is a copper back home and has got a career break. She robbed a bottle of wine from this party and then as good copper knows the best criminals never do, she returned to the crime scene, and told the bloke who's party it was that someone had robbed her wine, so she got 6 beers instead for us backpackers heh, i spose u had to be there. Never mind it was very funny at the time. We then headed to a place called Newtown which is soo cool its untrue, to good old Zanzibar Sydney style. We didnt stay there too long because Jade had a few too many. Newtown is full of students, young professionals, and its one of the main gay areas, with all these people you would imagine it to be pretencious but it's totally the opposite, anything and anyone goes. I no this is skipping to and from things but i keep remembering things at different times. When you call up a cal lcentre hear to ask about your bank for instance, they ask you how your day has been and what your doing on the weekend. Also at work for the war memorial day, the bosses bought a massive crate of beers, and we all had one at the end of the day. The warehouse across from us has a bbq every friday! Little thing's like that are cool man. Anyhu cant think of much else to say. We nearly went to see the foo fighters tonight but the tickets were over a hundred dollars each so we gave it a miss. the comp isnt liking me putting pics on at the mo so im trying to sort it, there are loads, so could be weeks before they are on, speak soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
