The drive was about 6 hours long but we stopped for a nice lunch in Satna and then stopped at a Hindu Temple that told the holy story of Ramayama through beautiful paintings, base reliefs and dioramas.
After checking into our hotel, we went for a boat ride on a disgustingly unhygienic river called the Mandakini. Chitrakoot is known as a mini Varanasi because of its many temples and ghats and is a popular Hindu pilgrimage destination. Everyone was blessing, washing, or swimming in the river. The town's spiritual legacy stretches back through the ages. The great sages Atri and wife Sati Anusuya meditated here, and the principal trinity of the Hindu pantheon, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva took their incarnations here as well.
We decided to skip the optional supper and had cheese sandwiches instead. After supper we went up to Binu's room and he told us about the 3 principal gods of Hinduism - Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva - and a bit about some of their incarnations as well.
Our hotel was pretty simple, but it had hot water and nice, clean beds. We were split up again, this time Connor with Mom and Tessa with Dad. Connor and Mom had a mouse visit them, but otherwise the evening was pretty uneventful.
