WHAT WE WILL AND WON'T MISS FROM TRAVELLING
WILL MISS:
- Waking up to a new adventure every day.
- Having every day be a Saturday.
- Meeting new people.
- No responsibilities!!
- Trying out to many local foods.
- Not feeling guilty about eating whatever we want because we are 'on holiday'.
- Not feeling guilty about drinking every day.
- Not being on honeymoon anymore. So many people have remarked to Shaun and me that they think we are so 'brave' to go travelling together for so long right after being married but we think it has been the opposite - married life has been fantastic - it will be hard for the 'real world' to compete!
- Perspective - so easy to maintain the 'right' perspective about what is important in life.
- Not being able to go to gym.
- Being able to buy stuff for so much cheaper - accommodation, food, clothes, books, etc.
- Naps.
- Reading loads of books.
- Catching up on all of our favourite TV shows (we went through several series!).
- Never having to set an alarm (except for the few early mornings).
- Massages.
- Coke in a glass bottle.
- Freshly squeezed fruit juice.
- Learning - every day was like a new history lesson.
- The weather -except for our time in China and Japan, I think we had about 3 days of rain and the rest was beautiful sunshine.
- HAVING A TAN.
- Not going to work on a Monday morning when all your mates have to.So many times we would be lying on our beach chair / hammock revelling in this thought - but now we will be those suckers!
- Watching so many sunsets.
- Diving.
WON'T MISS:
- Having friends and family be so far away.
- Not always having to eat in restaurants.
- Not being able to have that early morning / late evening cup of tea.
- Terrible toilets. The stories here are endless really - from the different coping strategies for using the bathroom to the hours of dehydration before train / bus rides to always getting snaked by old Asian ladies in the queue!
- Not having any income.
- Hooting.
- Not being able to play netball / golf.
- Haggling.
- Mosquitoes and having to spray repellant every night (and still getting bitten!)
- Sleeping in the airport.
- Not having access to South African goods like biltong and ghostpops.
- Not being able to have a good bath.
