Day trip to Niagara Falls today, bus picked me and another 2 from hotel at 430am, it was 15 minutes late which scared me a bit but all good. Bus took us to LaGuardia airport for 1 hr flight to the falls. There was 8 on the bus and we met another 13 at the airport. There were people from all over on the tour - Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Australia so the driver had to speak in 4 languages 1 after the other it was like watching the Eurovision song contest.
Flight was ok, met the guide at Buffalo airport and then took a bus ride to the falls. Bus trip was about 30 mins, we went straight to the Canadian side so had to go through border control.
First thing we did was go on the Maid of the Mist tour which is a boat ride that takes you right up to the falls so we had to wear bright blue ponchos, I put the camera in the glad bag to protect and I'm glad I did because we got soaked, more like giant waves than mist.
After we left the boat we got back on the bus and went to look at a few other thins like the hydro system, a giant whirlpool and a flower clock. We then went to lunch at the Sheraton, it was a buffet with the usual type of buffet stuff.
After lunch we went back to the American side so through border security again. It then started raining, I haven't seen that much rain in a long time. We went to look at the falls from the American side and got absolutely soaked, hope I don't get sick.
After this we left for the airport for the trip home and that's when the trouble happened, about 10 mins before boarding the flight was cancelled. We went back to check in to get the next flight but that wasn't until 6am the next morning so we were stuck in Buffalo for the night. We had to call the the tour guide to come back to organize a local hotel. All this with people speaking 4 different languages. Anyway the guide came back and organized a hotel and a shuttle bus back to the airport and from LaGuardia back to our hotel. We had to pay for the room as the tour stated that they were not liable for any cancelled flights. So I may try to claim through insurance.
Anyway went to bed early as we had to get up at 330 to catch our plane. I hope all goes well in the morning as I have to be at the 911 memorial by 1030 am.
All did go well and I was back at the hotel by 830 for a quick change and freshen up.
