We'd heard mixed feedback from fellow backpackers about whether to stop at 'Australia Zoo' or not. This is the zoo famed by Steve Irwin, and I have to say that most people we had talked to said it was a completely unmissable thing to do when coming to Australia. It was really expensive (26 english pounds each to be precise!) so we had high hopes. The highligts for us was the famous 'Crocoseum' where they entice a croc from the back area and dangle bits of meat at arms lenghth, and you get to see them leap up and their jaws snap around it. There was a really fantastic bird display, and it also provided a chance to see a real life cassowary which we were gutted we missed when we were in Tropical Queensland, their natural habitat.
