So yesterday was the full moon party and we all knew that it was going to be full on but nothing prepared us for how mental those 24 hours would be!
We checked out of Good Times in Koh Tao at 11am and decided that it would be easier to get to the ferry port early so at least we knew we would be there!
This meant we spent hours waiting around and killing time before the ferry. It was so hot as well so we kept in the shade as much as possible but moved over to the pier when it looked like the boat was letting people on. There was no cover from the sun there and then there was delays so by the time we did eventually get on the ferry everyone was pretty hot and irritable! As it was the ferry for full moon party it was packed and we ended up sitting at the back on the deck. We all got absolutely soaked sat here and it didn't help that it was horribly rough! I had taken travel sickness tablets before which I was so grateful for when everyone around us was throwing up!
When we made it to Koh Phangan we got a taxi to Haad Rin beach and asked for directions to the hostel Ben had booked for that night. We weren't really planning to stay there as our next ferry in the morning was at 7am, it was just to keep our bags safe. A lot of places won't do one night bookings so Ben had double checked that it would be okay but when we got there a very grumpy Thai man eventually showed up and told us he didn't do one nights and he had no room. This basically meant we were stuck in probably the biggest party in the world with all out stuff. For the record NEVER stay at Lucky hostel! He was really rude and had no sympathy for our situation.
We found a restaurant to sit in and make a plan and then spent the next few hours trying to find another hostel or somewhere to stash our bags. The only option we had at one point was the only hostel with space which would cost us £200.
By this point we were all fairly hacked off and resigned to the fact that we wouldn't be going to the main party. Ben and Shane went for one last look at any options and came back saying a hotel would let us keep our stuff behind their reception desk in exchange for some Smirnoff ice!
At this point we had been hot and the soaked on the boat and none of us had showered or anything, but we dumped our bags, me and Hana put some make up on and we went out!
It was amazing! I'm so glad that we could actually go! The beach is completely packed out and all the bats have DJs so it's almost like walking from one club to another! We walked along the whole beach but spent most of the night at the Rock.
By 2.30 we were all really tired and decided that with no where to stay we would set up at the ferry pier and wait.
We got a taxi which was really funny as they are all shared and we had this one guy who was totally off his face and didn't even know where he was going. The taxi driver ended up dropping him off at some place in the middle of nowhere so we have no idea what happened to him after that!
We were at the pier for hours waiting and all of us but Shane fell asleep at some point but eventually it was 7 and we got the ferry to Koh Samui. Again we all slept for most of the short journey and when we arrived we got another shared taxi to take us to our hotel. The driver completely misheard where we wanted to go and tried to drop us off in the wrong place. After last night it was the last thing we needed! We manage to pay him a bit extra to take us where we wanted to go and finally arrived! We had to wait a bit to check in but when we got to the room I think we were all grateful for a by of privacy after the dorms and a shower and bed!
We have all slept most of the day! This afternoon we stocked up on some essentials from 7/11 and are chilling put for the rest of the evening ready for our couple of days of luxury for mine and Shane's wedding :)
