It's been a while and Lauren had been nagging me for an update so here goes.
After Paraty we headed to see the mighty Iguaçu falls. We decided to do both sides (Brazilian and Argentinean) although the day we visited the Brazilian side it pissed it down!We were both in awe at the sheer spectacle of them however; the Argentinean side was my favorite as it let you right up close to the beast and you could feel its might roar.Words can't really decide and the pictures hardly do it justice.
Next it was time to move on so Buenos Aires here we come! Here we stayed in a really grotty hostel and woke up in the morning with a load of bites which kind of tainted our view of the city a bit.We did go to a percussion night which was really good though and Lauren loved the vintage market we went to.I had to drag her away so she didn't buy everything.
Again, time to move on, next stop Bariloche and time to ski!Bariloche was picture postcard perfect with mountains everywhere and a pristine lake all of which we could see from our hostel window. After the views it was time to hit the slopes to celebrate my mother's birthday in style.I quickly picked it back up and had an amazing two days.Lauren on the other hand took some time to adapt. For a beginner she picked it up pretty well though. After her first trip up the mountain she had to be escorted back down my moi as she was much too scared, though I don't blame her the red slope scared me a bit too.Day two however proved to be much better and after some tears early on we both had the time of our lives.
With time running out in South America it was time to move on and away from the slopes regrettably. We stayed in a town called Mendoza in Argentina before heading to Santiago, but there wasn't much to report from here.Santiago, Chile's capital city was kind of the same due to it being a national holiday weekend so we decided to head to the coast as we would be coming back to Santiago anyway.
Valparaiso was the town we stayed in.It has lots of picturesque little houses on the hills that come in all shapes and sizes. You can tell it is the boho/artistic district. We met two Scottish guys there who were doing the same route as us so we decided to head up the coast a bit with them.We stayed in La Serena which is a pretty mellow town so we just bided our time planning the next meal!
Back to Santiago and we were looking forward to New Zealand so after a quick trip around town it was off to the airport to catch our flight.
Next installment coming soon.
Miss you all very much.
