After a whole day of driving, we eventually arrived at our campsite in Te Anau just as it was starting to get dark. The site was really nice and modern, and also was right on the edge of Lake Ten Anau which meant we got to see a really nice sunset over the lake when we arrived there. Dunedin is in the Otago area of New Zealand, which is much further south than we had been so far, and you could tell by how cold it was. We arrived late in the afternoon so we just had dinner and went to bed. The lady at the camp reception told us about a place where there were gloworms that came out at night. We did get ready to go, but then decided it was too dark and cold to bother! We got up early the next morning and caught a bus into Dunedin's town centre...

After leaving Christchurch in the afternoon of our second full day in New Zealand we headed off on our first proper drive in the van. It was very exciting! We were planning to go to Mount Cook National Park the following day and thought we would drive as far as possible in that direction as we could, making a few stops along the way. Our flight from Sydney landed at 10.30 Friday night and we were finally in New Zealand! We were both very excited, and luckily for us getting off the plane and getting our bags was very quick. Once we had gotten back to Cairns after our week away in Cape Tribulation and Port Douglas, we still had another week there before we left Australia for good.
