We caught another coach from the Cameron Highlands to Kuala Lumpur in the early afternoon, for another 4 hour journey. This time the roads were even worse and winding, but we did have the most comfortable and spacious coach ever so that made up for it. We didn't arrive until the early evening, so after finding the hotel we went straight out for dinner in KL. Most people actually refer to the town as KL, as the full name actually means 'Dirty River.' We stayed right in the middle of China Town in the night market, and having to carry my backpack through all the crowds killed me. It was the first time I had had to carry it for any real distance and I didn't like it. The restaurant we ate in served Nyona food, which is a mix of Malay and Chinese, found only in Malaysia. It was quite nice and they had a really nice starter called a TopHat, which was like a spring roll that you put together yourself.
After that we headed to a bar, and it turned into another heavy night. The drinks were so cheap here, which was strange for Malaysia, and worked out about 80 pence a drink. Johann pciked the bar again and 'surprisingly' it turned out to be another reggae bar. We all did way too many shots again, and also buckets or vodka and whiskey. It was another good night though, and we all had loads of fun. When Johann had gone to walk someone back, we filled up his tequila shot with more tequila and some sambuca so he wasn't best pleased!
The next morning we managed to drag ourselvesout of bed. As this was our only full day in KL and we wanted to try and have a look around. In the morning we went to the butterfly garden which scared me as they kept flying at my head, and some of them were quite big. They also had fish, lizards, frogs etc. and a display of beetles and scorpians. It was really nice to look around there, but the boys were verry bored. After that we went to one of the many shopping centres to have a look around and some lunch. They also had the biggest indoor theme park on a couple of the floors, so we went on some rollercoasters which was really a bit strange. We qued to get on one ride thinking ti was the big rollercoaster, but when it started we realised it wasn't so we ended up staying longer than we had planned. Although we went out seperatly, we managed to meet up with pretty much all the group and made our way to the KL Tower. As we refused to pay too much for the taxi we ended up walking though a nature path and across some sort of obstacle course before we managed to find it. The observation deck of the tower was about 300m high, and my ears popped in the lift. The views we really good and we stayed until it got dark so we could see the lights. From there there were also good views of the other famous towers, the Petronas Towers which are now the highest buildings in the world. After that we just went to dinner and the back to the hotel. None of us could face another big night and we have to leave early again in the morning. We were all worn out and hungry after a long day. Justin was stressed as his dinner didn't arrive until everyone else had eaten there's though. When we eventually got back to the hotel it was time for more DVD's!
