Laura's adventures
Bula (as the Fijians would say)
After a night on the mailand - Nadi - which was a little iffy we took a our to the Isalands, man.
Amazing to spend time of lovely beaches and the islands themseklves look like something from Jurassic Park.
Indeeed I tried the Kava ceremony, despite my sister, Gina's warning. However was a little releuctant as were told by some boys in LA that it was something practised by the Cannibals of Fiji and the drink makes you helicuinate. Therefore when Kirsty and I were offered the tree root drink in a back room of a shop we quickly decline thinking that we would not make it out in one piece!!!
We did however do the ceremony on one of the islands and yes it does taste like mud water - certainly nothing like the Cava we have to celebrate the New Year with!
On the islands we witnessed their traditional dancing and as well as the Kava ceremont. We went across to their village and saw the school, church and the women of the island making their wares. I even turned my hand to weaving my own braclet and a basket (a little more adventurous) out of palms.
Anyway this is our last night in Fiji head to New Zealand tomorrow where I suspect it's going to be a little colder. Packed my thermals so hopefully I'll be alright. Neverthless it'll be a drastic change to the weather we've been experiencing here. Apart from a rainy day yesterday (which I used to catch up on much needed sleep) it's been lovely.
