Holy tree
Two hundred year-old tree planted by the first monastic missionary settlers in BA, Franciscans in the eighteenth century, responsible for providing this area - Recoleta - with its name. Recoleta stems from "Recollets", a French branch of the Franciscan order originating in the sixteenth century and concentrating upon repentence and prayer - through "recollection" of sins.
