As Grandma said, we had a picnic in the bug infested park in Ona but they didn't spoil our appetites, lots of food as usual. When I was traveling to Lima last winter there was a man sitting behind me who said he was from Ghana and that he was the drummer from Bob Marley's band. Wish I had taken a picture and gotten his name but I didn't want to be intrusive so did not. They were doing a show in Peru and there were other band members other areas of the plane. Small world. Keep having fun, stay safe, God Bless! Karen

The Walshes are having an end-of-the-year picnic Monday to celebrate Labor Day and Grandpa's birthday. Karen is contacting Quinn. We're meeting in Onalaska Park, The kids are all back in school and also talked to Quinn this morning. He seems to like Onalaska HS and all the rest of the grandkids are back in school too. Even Sophie. My last grandchild has started pre-school =( back pack and all. Think she was as excited over the new back pack as meeting her new teacher. But it sure has been a beautiful week here. Please please do be careful wherever you go. Well your Uncle Kevin is thrilled that Brett Favre is a Viking while all the others are hoping he gets his neck broken. It sure seems funny to see him in a purple jersey. Sure wish I could hear the crowd in Green Bay the first time the Vikings play there this year. Oh Well - Love Grandma

Dear Kyle,
You have already expressed your own individuality, and my goodness, did you really pierce your ears?! Okay, with the right colored shirt, it may look real nice, (add a little mascara!)
Looks like you are adapting to the environment you had so much curiosity about.
Have a restful weekend, and talk soon, Love you lots!

I never dreamed you would have so much time to read. By the way... when did you get your water back?
Both your Dad and I have Dr appointments tomorrow with Momont - do not anticipate any problems. Just love to follow your experiences . Chris was reading your latest and laughed so loud when you said your Twi will be useless when you get back to the states.
Love you lots
Grandma W.

wow- the experience, the environment is certainly an eye-opener Kyle; your classes seem interesting. With your information and thoughts, it broadens my scope of understanding and compassion for another part of the world. Keep up the great connection with us over here. We miss you lots

The file I've started is growing already. The first thing I do is take over a copy to your Dad. You are just the greatest kid alive. Even your messages amaze me and the way you can write. It blows my mind that the kid I thought who never really said a lot and was sort of laid back can send a message with all the thought provoking information as you do. Oh honey I'm so proud of you.
Love Grandma

Your experience with the water is also paralleled with the limited availablity of electricity in other developing countries, also something we take for granted (and waste way more than we should). I often marveled at the shacks on the hill sides in Lima with no running water or elec. and yet they go to work and school. How would we get along in a similar situation? I suppose if we grew up with this vs being suddenly thrust upon us is two different things. I'm sure you expected exposure to major differences but water???? Makes you appreciate.......everything! Great to hear from you, Karen
