So we arrived in San Diego without too much trauma...no strange people on the train, Helen was very impressed that I managed to keep it schtum and attracted no odditys! Arrived at our hostel in Downtown, bought some food from the supermarket to come back to a kitchen that was empty, no knifes, forks or plates...we ate like kings that night! Hit the shops the next day (I bought my favourite item in my backpack...wooly hat!) and Helen splurged on a gorgeous dress. Got chatting to the two women who we shared our room with...they seemed nice and quite normal although one lady blamed any odd, annoying occurence to ´the things in the sky working against us´so yeah quite normal! Went to visit Old Town in San Diego which was like a little Mexican town and was really interesting...inspired us to eat at the Gaslamp district in San Diego where we got amazing fajitas and the strongest cocktails ever! Treated ourselves to a trip to the cinema to see the social network which was really good and headed back to our well equipped hostel. Decided to book another hostel by the beach even though San Diego weather was s***ty! Just before checking out of the hostel one of the ladies asked if we could give her some money as she was broke and jobless..was very awkward! San Diego was full of homeless people, not a nice sight to see people freezing out on the street. So we gave alittle bit of cash and were on our way to the Ocean Beach International Hostel...also known as hippy hostel. The sufer dude boy/child on reception gave us champagne on arrival as we were ´beautiful ladies´and then seemed shocked when we said that we wouldn´t be bringing any randoms back to our 6 dorm bed room! When we got up to the room each bed had red velvet curtains around them for ´privacy´...free love was obviously all the rage here! Everyone in the hostel lived and worked there and everyone was highhhhh...except us, good girls we are! We chilled on the beach for the next couple of days and relaxed in the most amazing coffee shop...the brownies were the size of a house and no we didn´t share! There was a crazy farmers market outside the hostel which was selling everything from puppies to massages so we wandered around before having chinese which was good! (Obviously lost loads of weight in San Diego!) And then we spent the rest of the night catching up on emails, checking out San Francisco and chatting to some lovely Israeli boys. All in all not a lot of sight seeing done in San Diego!
