Kristin, your blog and pics are amazing. I check every once in awhile to see if you've added anything. You are obviously having a great time and have shared some very funny stuff!! I can totally relate to falling in the street and the BUGS. I saw a bug in my hotel room in Florida that was downright scary. I don't know how to say have fun in Spanish. I just stick to mas cerveza and bano. Ha. Hope to see you sometime soon!

Kristin,
Your blogs are proving that you have immursed sp? yourself into the culture in which you have joined for the short term.
Your experiences can only be truly understood by others who have experienced the same. I am glad that you have learned about "the Ugly American" and at the same time have learned to appreciate the advantages that you have come to expect simply by being born into the "land O'plenty".
As for the 8 legged creatures who share your domicile...The c*** roaches are known in the American Tropics as Palmetto Bugs. Harmelss, but big as as mice! they have been known to stand on their hind legs to fight! Yikes!!!
And the spiders...I have nothing to say but shake your shoes and underwear every morning and your blankets at night. One of my first nights alone in Florida when I was 21 had me wanting to call the fire department for help!!! However, I solved the problem by taping a shoe in the end of a broom stick in case the spider was a jumper!!!
We head for the beach tomorrow. Look forward to checking in upon our return!
Stay safe and keep trying new things and recognize the dignity of risk if the risk is resonable....
As Ahma would say, "In time, on time, a little but ahead of time is a better time!"
Love, Jill
