Sparkle and Smile Worldwide!
Hey,
Just thought it would be appropriate to finally finish our diary so that you all know what happened at the end of our world trip. Well, after my mozzie bite healed, we then went to Ko Phangan which was lush. Lots of lazing by a pool and partying with some lovely people. We went to a black moon party which turned into a Mud Party. However, Krissie got allergic to the malaria tablets she was taking and it was like a scene from The Exorcist. So we returned to Ko Samui to get her tablets changed for another type but disaster was never far from us....On our way to the hospital, at the hotel, Krissie flicked her hair forward to put it into a ponytail and somehow managed to headbutt the heavy wooden table in front of her. A great deal of blood ensued and Lucy was stuck playing nurse again, taking her to the hospital as the wound refused to stop bleeding...The nurses laughed and stuck injections into Krissie's forehead and stitched her up with 5 stitches - not very pretty. But this was a minor diversion before the final denouement of our trip. Krissie had to go to the hospital every day to ger her wound cleaned (sound familiar) and Luce had been a bit under the weather so the nurses offered to take a blood test of her. The results returned with a positive for Dengue Fever. Yes, Dengue Fever. Lucy was infected....We moved in to the hospital in a two person ward because nobody trusted Krissie to stay out of injury trouble without Lucy around. The food was awful, the doctors could barely speak English but the nurses was kind and at least there was one Sky channel. Lucy was really poorly but very brave and they caught it before the bone crunching stage. However, we were told that our trip could not go on any further and we would have to return home as soon as Lucy was well enough for a plane trip because this was pretty serious. So, after ten days we flew back to Bangkok and onwards to home, Lucy shaky and Krissie with a Harry Potter like scar on her forehead...What an 'adventure'!
