This islet is the legendary location where Theseus abandoned Ariadne after she helped him navigate the Labyrinth and defeat the Minotaur. The story varies, but the main myth is that the god Dionysos fell in love with Ariadne and demanded Theseus leave her behind. No matter the story, Ariadne always laments on the beach, watching the ship sailing away from her. She is subsequently rescued by the god and his entourage, where he makes her a goddess.
