Mannn well I'm sorry I haven't written a blog for so long I've just been so busy so I'll make this a long one. Well I'll start where I left off in Ghana which seems life a life time a go now. Although I said I could have easily spent longer in Ghana I wouldn't want to go back now that I've been in real civilisation, wow its just amazing how culture shocked I was. I got to Joburg and it just blew me over, there were white people everywhere and really fashionable black rich black people. Had a long wait at the airport for my pick up but I met a load of people who had been travelling around Africa that I ended up going to dinner with that night. Was my first meal in a civilised country, I had pizza, crème Brule and a milkshake….had to over do the dairy products! The Ritz backpacker's was pretty good, just full of a bunch of hippy travellers, which is always good. I only spent one night in Joburg and I was not what I expected at all, we were walking around at night…no problem, we were in a really rich area though but I thought the whole of Joburg was a no go area at night. Everything remided me of England…I could drink the tap water, it was cold and cloudy, there were proper shops everywhere…no one carrying things on their heads etc. and absoultyl everything was fenced in with 20 foot walls, barbed wire and armed security around the fancy places. Although as I drove to the airport in the morning we drove through town and it was very reminiscent of the Bronx in the 80s, like people standing around a fire out of an oil drum….stuff like that. I left for Zambia for a few days and returned to catch my next flight to Brazil. Got back to Joburg and found this amazing mall…it was the poshest mall I've ever seen, wandered round and it was fabulous, everything was uber expensive, it was filled with frozen yogurt bars, fancy cafes and little boutiques. I also found a book shop which was amazing; I've started reading cas I'm just doing so much travelling I have to,bought a book called Snowblind its pretty good so far. Went back to the ritz and spent the evening in the bar with a Belgian guy who bought a shisha pipe from Morroco so that was pretty cool.
