Dear all,
On the last day in Saigon we went to th Chi Cu tunnels, which was quite amazing. These are tunnels that are under ground that the vietnamese used during the war against the US. We were allowed to crawl in the "European Tunnel", a tunnel on about 100m that is suitable for fat western tourist (like ourselves), it is made larger than it originally was and they put lights and aircon inside. We STILL had to crawl and started to feel a little claustrophobic!! (the lights did go out while we were down there though). It was a fascinating experience.
We have spent the last few days in Nha Trang, a city by the coast of Vietnam which offers a long beach and parties. We had to change hotel after the first night because of too many drunk and noisy people outside. Yes, we're 90 years old! ;p We almost didn't make it here from Saigon. First the bus ran out of gas so we had to role the last hundred metres towards the gas station, but the bus driver still had to walk to get the gas (but returened on a motobike) three or four times. Then when we were almost here the motor broke down! We thought it was quite funny when the driver went out to fix it with this small wrench, but he actually manage to get the motor going again, and we crawled up the last hills and arrived at our destination.
We planned to go snorkelling, but because we can't seem to stop getting sick and got sun burned the first day on the beach, we only had some lazy days here. It's a nice town and like the rest of Vietnam we like it. We've heard that Hoi An is suppose top be great (but it's getting colder the further north we go) so that's where we're going tomorrow. Just another loooong bus ride first.
All the best from sunny Nha Trang!
