Our final two days of our big adventure were taken up with travel. Flights from Cancun to Houston and Houston to LA, followed by a transatlantic flight home to Heathrow. Unfortunately our first flight was delayed half an hour and landed a mere 5 minutes before we were due to board the plane for our second flight! We raced through Houston Airport, through immigration, customs, scanners, bag reclaim and bag check-in...typically officials decided we looked dodgy and insisted on searching our bags... but luckily we made the plane with about 30 seconds to spare before they closed the doors and taxied onto the runway!
Once settled, flustered and panting, Mark discovered he was sitting next to a small toddler obsessed with ice who kept screeching 'ice, ice!' until he was presented with a glass of ice. Kim meanwhile sat amidst a large group of church enthusiasts on their way to a religious conference, all reading bibles, discussing the significance of parables and writing in a workbook...Kim noticed that all of the answers seemed to refer to people being cast into hell...worrying!!!
Unfortunately whilst we made it to LA, our bags didn't though thankfully they made a later flight and were delivered to our swanky hostel which gave out free champagne - a great ending to our hostel life!!!
We are now finally back home, after a lovely reunion with our parents at Harlington Station. It has been an unbelievably fantastic trip with lots of great memories. Sadly we're now back in the real world... anyone got a job for us????
Thank you to everyone for their good wishes, messages of support and cards. We can't wait to catch up with all of you!
So where shall we go next...? Antarctica sounds nice.....
