G'day folks!
Oz is amazing! We arrived a week ago in Sydney, spent a few days shopping and eating. Oh - the shopping, i had to refrain!! Theres a huge amount of chinese immigrants in the city so there are some fabulous chinese restaurants! We went to the famous opera house and generally wandered the streets! There is a huge botanical gardens that we spent a day in looking at some weird animals and bugs!
On Monday morning we picked up our campervan - a small white fan with purple flowers and butterflys along the side - mo loves it, kezz is mortified! Its been named "putt putt ding ding" as thats how it sounds when its on the move!!
For our first adventure in putt putt we drove through the city, across sydney harbour bridge to bondi beach - beautiful but not that exciting and then we headed north out of sydney on our way to Brisbane.
We drove solidly for 2 days - stopping for a few photos or some food. We're not sleeping in campsites so theres always a bit of an adventure last thing at night trying to find somewhere to snooze!!
In Brisbane we went to the Chinese embassy to try and get our china visas. Little did we know chinese new year was about to begin so the embassy would be shut for a week! argh! We can get them in melbourne though so all is well! Brisbane is quite small but full of character, we got totally lost several times so got to see some of the suburbs - huge houses with big cars in the drive!!
From brisbane we've taken our time, spent a day at byron bay (awesome - get a surf board and go!) and yesterday we made our way to Australia zoo - Steve Irwin, the crocodile mans place. It was incredible, was expensive but took us 8 hours to get round everything so well worth it! We got to cuddle koalas, play with the kangaroos, stroke lizards - really well kept and the animals are obviously much happier than in zoos back home. By chance we arrived at the zoo an hour before it opened and we were invited in for a free breakfast (full fry up!) and we were given reserved seating to see the crocodile show that steves wife presents! That was a right place right time moment!!
Anyhoo - we are really enjoying ourselves, seeing lots of stuff (a snake about 6 foot long stopped the traffic the other day as it crossed the road!) and sunbathing. Enough blethering for now, off to fraser island in putt putt this afternoon so we'll say goodbye!
Miss you all lots x x x x
