Hi Everyone,
We thought we would update our blog as we have time to kill in Taupo this evening. We have just finished up in Rotorua and what a fantastic experience. As if the Geothermal surroundings and Mud bath and spa weren't enough. New Zealand certainly has so much variation and adventure activities to offer. We have been white water rafting today on a grade 3 river called Kaituna with a grade 5 waterfall drop (7m). Yes what is a grade 3/5, we haven't got a clue either but it was amazing fun. On the big 7m waterfall our whole rafting boat and team submerged totally under the water for a couple of seconds, we bounced and spun around until coming back up to the surface again, luckily not losing anyone out the raft.
After our first rafting experience we decided to head off to Taupo. But on the way we read in my mates book that you can visit a thermal creek for nothing. Being the penny grabbing travellers we have become we jumped at the opportunity. It has been raining constantly all day and it wasn't really a sight seeing day but we took this opportunity being on a tight budget to drive down an uncealed road where we got our swim gear on and wondered through a wooded area and began running in the rain as it was so cold, before discovering this thermal stream/creek/pool/mini waterfall thingy, somebody had even left a candle lit by the edge of the water. Romantic considering the wet 'n' wild day we had shared. New Zealand is so unusual and well worth a visit. However we have both agreed you would need a life time to see all the things it has to offer.
We hope to update the blog soon, and load some more photos on.
Love you all lots and keep in touch.
Kev and Clare
