It was so sad leaving Thailand but was exciting moving on. We got a flight direct to Kuala Lumpur and managed to get a bus into the centre and made our way to China town as the cheap backpacker accommodation was there. I was really surprised as Malaysia has a massive Chinese and Indian population and while we were driving through a street in KL it felt like I was back in India, there are so many different cultures here its hard to tell who the original Malay's are, but the city itself was very busy and commercial.
We were really worried as we were told that there was Ramadan going on this month, and it would be hard to travel around but that just was not the case at all, it was really easy and most tourist places were serving food and alcohol, however Malaysia is mostly Muslim so it was very hard getting used to the different culture. We went for dinner and a drink and stupidly Darren asked if there was local beer, soon after realising what he just said, the only beer was Carlsberg and they had vodka that tasted really disgusting, but the bar was ok and its all an experience.
We stayed in the Reggae Guesthouse 2, which was lovely but very expensive and our room was the size of a shoe box and we had bunk beds but it was clean and was only for two nights.
The second day in KL we of course went to see the Petronas Twin Towers which were really spectacular, it made me dizzy just looking up at them, they are 452m above street level. We thought they were just office buildings but there was a massive shopping centre in them too, and I felt right at home but could not bloody buy anything, it was still nice walking around though. We went up to the sky bridge which is 170m up on level 41 (there are 84 levels), the views of the city were really amazing, After seeing the towers there was not much else to do that was of interest to us, KL is just another city really. So we decided to book a flight to Borneo and find a beach.
