Optional tour time and I decided that I could not miss the Serengeti, despite it being the most expensive optional tour of our whole time on the trip. I am camping in a site called Snake Park tonight. It is a campsite that also has a number of snakes, crocodiles, birds, lizards, etc in a section of the campsite - all in their own cages of course. We were lucky enough to arrive on feeding day so at 2pm we got to see the snakes killing and eating sweet little yellow chickens. At times they were still alive and chirping as they went down. Eeek, I have made it to the halfway point of my 16 week tour. Arrived in Nairobi yesterday afternoon after doing a full truck clean at our last campsite. We had to empty the truck and effectively rid it of the dust from the Sudan desert and the northern Kenyan roads. Arrived in Lake Naivsha yesterday and I am camping in a campsite that is on the edge of the lake. At 6.30pm in the evening a fence about 10m from the water is electrified and we all wait in anticipation for the Hippo's to come out and feed. Despite two nights of Laura and I going for numerous wanders along the fence with our torches and giggling with excitment of seeing a Hippo we were not to be lucky this time.
