Arrived in Arequipa 3 days ago after a 12hour night bus. Which was a experience, you sit downstairs in really comfy seats that go right back and its all totally blacked out you dont feel like you are on a bus at all, it feels like some sort of space ship! Arequipa is beautiful its surrounded by snow capped volcanoes and is very picturesque.
Currently back in Arequipa at the moment after spending 2 days in the Colca Canyon which is absolutely spectacular about a 3hour drive into the mountains and theres only one dirt track in and one dirt track out its very remote! Went the highest up weve been so far about 4900 mtrs had abit of altitude sickness which feels like your head is going to explode and you cant take more than about 5steps without feeling like you have just ran a marathon on your hands. it also involved me having a injection in my ass to help me with it! I didnt look at the needle but Nadia said it was about a foot long! Its not nice but you only get it once and I have aclimatised now ready for the Inca trail! yey! Flying to Cuzco in the morning and start the Inca trail on the 26th.
The trip so far has been amazing weve seen sea lions, penguins and pelicans on the ballestas islands, been sandboarding on the dunes in ica, gone horseback riding in the Colca canyon, seen the Nazca lines and eat some amzing food along the way!
Hope everyone is well!
ps pics and vids to follow!
