S: So, we got our first bus in a few months. It wasn't quite like we were used to..... It had really comfy seats and we were served food and drinks. We found our hostel that included a pool, this is a new style of travelling lol. We were all ready to go sand boarding, first we had to climb into a massive buggy that had been modified for the job and off we go. I think the driver was a little loco (crazy) as he was speeding up and down the sand dunes with no fear. We stopped and started to get our boards ready, now we had done this before, so we didn't mind going first. The sand dunes are bigger than the ones in Aus but we gave it our all.
J: The sand-boarding was excellent. We waxed the bottom of the boards to get extra speed, strapped my feet in and went for it. A lot of people followed my lead the first time of standing up but after a couple fell over and hurt themselves they all went to lying on the boards, I still kept persisting and it paid off as I managed to ride a few all the way down, including a large one with 2 drops, but with all my falling over whilst sweating, I got covered in sand, but it was worth it.
All hyped up we headed out to Huacaf***ingchina and had the funniest waiter ever who took a shine to Taylor (an Aussie girl we met in Lima).
S: We taxied into Ica the closest town and went to the museum there. Part of their religion meant they deformed the child's head with sticks and bandages as soon as they were born. Sounds very harsh but it was part of everyday life for them. They also had real mummies on show, it was fascinating especially when they had X-rayed them and found they had died from tuberculosis - it's amazing what technology can do these days. We popped to the local supermarket to buy water as it was expensive in the village. We walked back which was about 3 miles, so a little exercise for us. We found a little gem of a hostel/resultant called Banana Bungalow and we ate there. Afterwards we played cards and dice before bed, which included teaching an Argentine guy how to play, he turned out not to be too bad at cards.
J: After trying to get a bus out of the town, only to find they were all full that day, we had a hard day of lying by the pool and catching up with some admin stuff, some days really take it out of us lol. We found out the guy at bananas is 60 but is also traveling around the world, never too late to chase a dream. Sam got a Delhi belly again and had a rough night. We had most of the day free as it was a night bus we were waiting for, so chilling by the pool was again stressful. Later once we made it to the bus station ready for our 8pm bus, it eventually arrived at 9:30pm, these things become so norm when traveling. When we found our seats and we had our own personal TV screens and a catalogue of films! I watched 22 Jump Street and let the whole bus know how funny it was as I was crying with laughter (Sam kept trying to make me be quiet, but I couldn't keep the laughter in).
